ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A group of students from Rockford University organize a food drive to help the Rock River Valley Pantry.
Collections for the food drive will begin at 5:30 p.m. March 28, during the men’s volleyball game at Seaver Gymnasium.
Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable foods like canned fruit and vegetables, peanut butter and soup. A full list of items needed by the pantry is available on its website.
The items will then be delivered directly to the food pantry to help those in need.
“With this food drive, we hope to make a meaningful impact on our local community while engaging students and sports fans in an important cause,” said Madisen Perry, one of the event’s student organizers.
Throughout the evening and during halftime, student organizers will help collect donations, share information about the pantry’s mission and encourage additional support.
