#22 Women’s Lacrosse Runs Past Bison, 17-6

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Led by five-goal performances by Alyssa Chung and Mikayla Williams, the No. 22 Navy women’s lacrosse team (7-3, 2-0 Patriot League) improved to 2-0 in the Patriot League with a 17-6 road win over Bucknell (4-5, 0-2 Patriot League) on Saturday afternoon at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, Pa.

“Today’s win was a testament to our team’s grit, focus, and relentless preparation,” head coach Cindy Timchal said after the game. “I’m proud of how we executed with heart, discipline, and unity. Every player had a role in this victory, and it showed.

“Our defense set the tone from the first whistle. We communicated, we hustled, and we played Navy-tough. AC [Alyssa Chung] and Meeks [Mikayla Williams] had a great day shooting the ball and Mess [Emily Messinese] and Taylor Miles did a great job of feeding the offense. Alyssa [Daley] once again did an outstanding job with the draws. It was an all-around team win. We played fast, shared the ball well, and stayed disciplined in our execution.”

Offensively, eight Midshipmen found the back of the net. Chung led the team with seven points on a season-high five goals and a pair of assists, while Williams added a career-best five scores to tie her career-high of five points. Emily Messinese and Taylor Miles added five points apiece with the duo each scoring one goal and notching career-bests with four assists each. Maggie DeFabio notched three points on a pair of goals and an assist. Tori DiCarlo, Caroline Gage, and Emma Kennedy also added goals, while Ava Yovino added a point with an assist.

Defensively, Navy held its second consecutive Patriot League opponent to single-digit goals, limiting the Bucknell offense to just six scores.
