Slumping Rice Price Offers Some Relief From Fresh Food Inflation

While egg prices have soared and coffee has never been more expensive, there’s a part of the food world where consumers are finding some relief: Rice.

Prices of the grain — a staple for more than half the world’s population — hit a 15-year high early last year. They had begun advancing following a hot and dry El Nino weather phenomenon and top shipper India’s move to restrict exports to shore up supplies.
