CLARK MILLS, N.Y. — As the number of families supported by a local food pantry continues to grow, the organization is reaching out for community donations.
The Country Pantry assists families living in Clinton, Clark Mills and Westmoreland, including children from the Clinton and Westmoreland school districts.
Recent pantry statistics indicate a nearly 30-family increase in those seeking nutritional support.
In January, The Country Pantry helped 563 families; in February, that number rose to 594, and as of March, they have served 623 families.
This April, children will receive KIDSPCKS, sponsored by the Brandel-Murphy Youth Foundation and the Clinton Lions. These bags contain kid-friendly food for spring break.
A donation of $10 can help cover food costs for one family, with a goal of assisting 600 families.
The food distributed includes fresh, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables, as well as dairy products like milk, cheese, yogurt, and eggs, plus proteins such as frozen chicken, pork and beef.
Most of the food is sourced from The Food Bank of CNY in Syracuse.
To contribute, you can send your financial support to The Country Pantry at PO Box 76, Clinton, N.Y. 13323, or click here.
The pantry operates from the Church of the Annunciation on East South Street in Clark Mills.
The next distribution date is April 14, according to the pantry’s website.
