Fonda Speedway Car Show is underway — Area Stock Car Racing

Without a doubt, there is plenty to keep you busy this weekend.

Locally, we have the annual Fonda Speedway Car Show, which began Friday at Via/Port in Rotterdam. The race cars rolled in on Thursday evening, filling the mall with modifieds, crate 602 sportsman, pro stocks, 4-cylinder cruisers and go-karts. Mall hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. This is always a great time to relax and enjoy wandering through the mall and taking in the sights of all the cars up close and visiting with your friends and racing family while collecting photos, hero cards, and autographs. Season passes for the grandstands and pits will be available along with wearables, schedules and merchandise from Fonda Speedway. Other vendors on site include the Friesen’s One Zee Tees trailer, Ronnie Johnson has his merchandise trailer, JB Photography will have photos of your favorite drivers, and Melissa Shoemaker-Pigliavento will have items honoring her father Kenny “The Shoe” Shoemaker. The Easter Bunny will be at the mall Saturday near the fountain between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The Via/Aquarium also is having a special Saturday to celebrate World Water Day, offering a $2 discount if you bring a reusable water bottle.
