LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – University of Kentucky women’s basketball head coach Kenny Brooks has been selected as The Sporting News’ National Coach of the Year.
UK Athletics says that under Brooks’ leadership and in just under a year, the women’s basketball program is experiencing its best season-to-season turnaround in program history.
The team is 22-7 overall this season – with at least one more game to play – including 11-5 in the Southeastern Conference and 14-2 in Historic Memorial Coliseum.
Brooks guided UK to a No. 4 seed and a double bye at the SEC Tournament, the program’s first in five seasons.
