Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ historical story is set between Assassin’s Creed Revelations, which ended in 1512, and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, which began in 1715, though neither of those games have any bearing on Shadows’ plot. As for the modern-day plot, it is unclear exactly when it’s set, but it can be assumed it is the most recent game in the timeline.
Can you choose to play as Naoe and Yasuke?
Once you unlock Yasuke at the end of Act 1, you can switch between the two at any time from the Inventory screen in the menu. While some missions and activities are exclusive to one character, most of the time you will get to choose who to play as.
