Grow, Give, Gain: Great Plains Food Bank offers commodity donation program

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Farmers and ranchers have the opportunity to donate their products to the food bank.

Through Great Plains Food Bank’s Grow, Give, Gain program, producers can donate their crops and beef.

The program started in 2024 and is available statewide.

They just need to fill out the food bank’s form online, take it to the stockyard or elevator, and the rest is taken care of.

Abby Tow with the food bank said any commodity donation will result in a tax benefit.

She said the top donations have been beans, grains and corn.

“Agriculture is a huge industry here and we just really wanted to find a way that we could work more closely with the agriculture industry,” said Tow.

Tow said more than 650,000 pounds of food were distributed last year in Ward County.
