A quick, premade frozen meal is a great option for a busy night where cooking may feel like a chore. That’s why many head to the frozen food aisle at their local grocery store to pick up something from Lean Cuisine or Stouffer’s.
However, before you pop one of their meals into the microwave next, make sure to check the batch number and best-by date, as Nestlé, the brands’ parent company just issued a voluntary recall on four items due to “the potential presence of wood-like material.”
Here’s everything you need to know about the recall.
What products have been recalled?
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s are recalling four products from their frozen food lineup — three from Lean Cuisine and one from Stouffer’s. The recall spans across the United States, reaching a variety of major retailers. Out of an abundance of caution and public health concerns, Nestlé has issued the recall voluntarily.

Who does the recall affect?
The recalled batches were distributed across the United States at major retailers from September 2024 to March 2025, meaning if you purchased one of the four named products in the past seven months, you may be affected. However, the brand is confident that the recall only pertains to “a limited quantity of batches” and does not affect any other Lean Cuisine or Stouffer’s products, other than the four mentioned.
What is the exact reason for the recall?
Three Lean Cuisine products and one Stouffer’s product were recalled due to “the potential presence of wood-like material.” Nestlé is in the midst of investigating the source of the foreign material.
As of March 17, there has been “one potential choking incident to date” regarding the affected products.
What should I do if I have the recalled product?
To verify you have a recalled item, check the 10-digit batch number and best-by date, located on the side of the box to see if they match the numbers and dates highlighted above.
If you are in fact in possession of one or more of the confirmed items, do not eat them. Nestlé is advising customers to return the item(s) to the store in which they were purchased for a full refund or replacement. If you have questions, contact Nestlé USA at (800) 681-1676 for additional details.
