DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -The Cancer Support Community Iowa & NW Illinois, formerly known as Gilda’s Club Quad Cities, is excited to announce its upcoming Camp Hope 2025.
The free, week-long residential summer camp is designed for children and teens entering grades 4 through 9 who have been impacted by cancer.
The camp will take place from June 15 to June 20, at Camp Shalom Christian Camp, located at 6262 Caves Road in Maquoketa.
About Camp Hope
Previously called Camp Genesis, www.gildasclubqc.org/camp/ provides a safe and supportive environment where kids can simply be kids. The program includes classic camp activities like ziplining, rock climbing, swimming, archery, canoeing, and arts and crafts.
Campers also have the opportunity to participate in group sessions led by the Cancer Support Community staff, where they can share their experiences and emotions in a nurturing setting.
A unique feature of Camp Hope is a day trip to the MercyOne Genesis Davenport Cancer Center, where campers can meet doctors and staff, learn about cancer diagnosis and treatment, and ask questions in a safe and supportive environment.
