Princess Kate Gives Rare Insight Into Parenting Her Kids Outside of London

Princess Kate opened up about the relatable reason behind her and Prince William’s decision to move their family out of London.

While speaking with soldiers from the Irish Guard during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Monday, Kate spoke candidly about raising her kids—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—in the countryside of Windsor.

“We are in Windsor at the moment,” Kate said during one conversation, according to People. “We were in London but moved there for more green space. It’s close enough to London, not too far away.”

Kate, William, and their three children made the move from London to Windsor in 2022. The family formerly took up residence at Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace, which previously served as Princess Margaret’s home. Today, the family of five live in Adelaide Cottage, a historic royal residence located just a half mile from Windsor Castle, which was Queen Elizabeth II’s primary residence in the last few years of her life. George, Charlotte, and Louis all currently attend Lambrook School, a preparatory school located in the nearby Berkshire countryside where Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, also live.

Kate and William are known to share a love for the outdoors, and it’s clear that they want to pass that appreciation onto their children.

“Spending time in nature can play a pivotal role in helping children grow up to become happy, healthy adults,” Kate said in a statement back in 2019. “The great outdoors provides an open playground for children to have fun and learn lifelong skills—from balance and coordination to empathy and creativity—with their friends, their parents, their carers, or their family members.”
