A previously convicted sex offender who admitted to being a “collector” of child pornography pleaded guilty to multiple charges on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Columbus.

Joshua Bock, 32, of the city’s Far South Side, faces the possibility of up to six decades in prison when he is sentenced at a later date for distributing and possessing child pornography.

Bock, according to court records, had more than 3,500 images and videos on multiple electronic devices that depicted children being sexually abused. The images and videos were discovered as part of an investigation into allegations Bock had on multiple occasions stood fully nude at a glass door at his home and pleasured himself while children were getting off a school bus nearby.

Court records say parents of several of the students called the Franklin County Sheriff’s office, who began investigating. Bock gave a detective permission to search a cellphone, court records say, on which the detective found a photo of a preteen girl who was partially nude.

According to court records, Bock told detectives he was a “collector” of child sex abuse images and videos and described his collection of child pornography as a “treasure chest.” He gave detectives the locations in his home where electronic devices were that contained the pornography.

Forensic examinations of Bock’s devices led detectives to more than 3,500 images and videos, court records show. Some of the material involved “bondage” of young girls ranging from toddlers to teenagers who had gags in their mouths, court records say. Other material involved adults sexually abusing infants, according to court records.

Bock also admitted to being active on the dark web, court records state.

Bock was a Tier 1 sex offender because of a 2011 Franklin County misdemeanor conviction for sexual imposition involving the assault of a preteen child, according to court records.

A sentencing date for Bock has not yet been set. He is being held in federal custody.
