R.E.P.O., short for Retrieve, Extract, and Profit Operation, is an indie online co-op horror created by Sweden-based studio semiwork. It’s only been 20 days since its Early Access release on February 26, and over 30,900 Steam reviews have given it an overwhelmingly positive rating at the time of writing this article.
It has an impressive icon of the horrific redesign of the tears-of-joy emoji, and you are a human-shaped robot hired by a mysterious computer intelligence. Play with up to the other five players in a gloomy environment, “locate valuable, fully physics-based objects and handle them with care as you retrieve and extract to satisfy your creator’s desires.”
The gameplay resembles the popular Lethal Company but has some unique twists — physics-based mechanics that bring some hilarious, chaotic moments. Besides, there are unpredictable monsters who are there to give plenty of jump scares. “Even the monsters are affected by Newton’s law of gravity!”
