MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Kids finger painted, decorated sunglasses and colored to get ready for Madison’s St. Paddy’s Day parade.
Logan’s Heart and Smiles is a non-profit organization with the goal of improving homes and inspiring hope for children with disabilities across Wisconsin.
Founder of Logan’s Heart and Smiles, and Madison’s Leprechaun Joe Herr, said that the kids have been busy helping to get ready for the parade.
“We are so excited. The kids that we serve, Logan’s friends, are making decorations and things for our float that will be in the St. Patrick’s Day parade,” said Herr.
He adds that this opportunity is more than just the art being created, but rather the community being fostered for kids with disabilities and their families.
“The St. Patrick’s Day parade is a great way for community organizations, and our friendships and connection to come together, annually,” Herr said. “As I mentioned Logan’s friends will be in the parade wheeling or in our float, so come cheer them on! It is just a great way to enjoy life and make someone smile.”
Logan’s Heart and Smiles hosted the event at their new facility that opened on Watts Road on Madison’s west side.
Herr said that this facility is presents new opportunities for children with all abilities, to come together in a non-judgmental way, and just be kids.
“We are going to highlight and showcase the abilities and the thing we can do, and not the things we can’t do,” said Herr.
The parade begins at 1:30pm on Sunday, March 16 at Capital Square in Madison.
