PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) – The Rally Foundation hosted its signature fundraiser for the gulf coast, Rally on the Runway. This event allows kids diagnosed with childhood cancer a chance to shine and show what they got on the fashion runway.
Director of Rally Gulf Coast Cindi Bonner tells FOX10 this is a great opportunity for these kids to get their spot light.
“We are here to support our children in the community battling cancer. Show them what it means to have a community support you.
Ten children participated and they were escorted by some local and national celebrities.
“The beautiful part of this is the celebrities take a back step and it’s the kids who are really the celebrities. We are here to applaud them and their bravery and they are just unbelievable children.”
Carolyn Hendricks, a cancer survivor herself told FOX10 a little about the backstory of Rally on the Runway and how it got started.
“I was diagnosed with cancer when I was four, and my neighbor my amazing neighbor Cindi Bonner realized what was happening and realized there was such a gap between research and fundraising for kids with cancer, and just decided to make a difference.”
All the proceeds from tonight’s event go directly to funding research for a cure. If you would like to donate to the Rally Foundation you can find a link to their website here.
