36th annual Myrtle Beach Run to the Sun show features thousands of classic cars

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF)— This is the first major car show of the year, attracting more than 10,000 people from across the country and Canada.

This year there is a special collection of movie cars that you may have seen on the big screen, such as General Lee in Dukes of Hazzard.

The event is full of vendors, and food, and raises money for local charities.

It has donated two and a half million dollars since launching 36 years ago.

Spokesperson David Rodgers says he remembers going to the very first Run to the Sun Car Show.

He says it’s not the classic cars that kept him coming back.

“The camaraderie is as much as having a car here‚” said Rodgers. “I get to see people here each year that I’ve known for 25 to 30 years, love to see them.”

The three-day event is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the old Myrtle Square Mall on North Kings Highway.

You can purchase tickets online or at the gate.
