
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Tigers guard PJ Haggerty has been named a Second Team All-American by the Sporting News, one of the four outlets the NCAA uses to select unanimous All-Americans.
Haggerty is also the American Athletic Conference’s 2024-2025 Player of the Year and named to the AAC’s All-Conference First Team. The Crosby, Texas native is fifth in the country in scoring, averaging 21.2 points per game. He is also fourth in the country in made free throws at 190.
Haggerty leads the Tigers in points, minutes (36.5), assists per game (3.8), total assists (117) and total steals (56).
The Memphis Tigers have had nine players in their history named All-Americans, Larry Finch, Keith Lee, William Bedford, Anfernee “Penny Hardaway”, Lorenzen Wright, Rodney Carney, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Derrick Rose, Kendric Davis and Haggerty.
Haggerty joins Eric Dixon (Villanova), Kam Jones (Marquette), John Tonje (Wisconsin) and JT Toppin on the Sporting News All-American Second Team.
First Team includes Johni Broome (Auburn), Walter Clayton (Florida), Cooper Flagg (Duke), Mark Sears (Alabama) and Braden Smith (Purdue).
Third Team includes LJ Cryer (Houston), Ryan Kalkbrenner (Creighton), Chaz Lanier (Tennessee), RJ Luis (St. John’s) and Zakai Ziegler (Tennessee).
