Memories in Monroe Car Show rescheduled to March 22 due to potential for severe weather

Monroe officials have decided to reschedule the Memories in Monroe Car Show until next weekend, March 22, 2025, due to the potential for severe weather this weekend.

“As we’ve gotten closer to Saturday and our 20th Annual Making Memories in Monroe Car Show…the weather has continued to deteriorate with rain/thunderstorm chances during the morning and day on Saturday increasing, with severe weather that evening and into Sunday morning. Due to the certain uncertainty of weather with the risk that is presented, we’ll be moving our 20th Annual Car Show to Saturday, March 22nd…the following weekend,” officials noted. “This decision is being made for several reasons as early as it is…namely safety of attendees and travelers as we have a show that’s attended from all over the region. The weather threat potential will keep away many cars/automobiles from attending, and should storms move in during the event, the ability to exit the show would be almost impossible in a quick manner. This sooner than later postponement will also allow food and artisan vendors to plan more appropriately and not suffer losses in product. Primarily, safety is the concern for visitors, attendees, and staff…and this is why we have rain dates for events of this nature. If the sun should shine on Saturday, we’d still rather be safe and wrong, than not safe and right!”

The rain date is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22nd and anybody who participated in early registration will get a notification within the next day or so with options to either stay registered or get a refund.

Initial Story

The 20th Annual Making Memories in Monroe Car Show is currently scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, weather permitting. Should weather not be favorable, the reschedule date is the following Saturday, March 22nd.

Officials will continue to monitor the weather in the time period leading up to the weekend and will make a decision as early as possible. However, they probably won’t make the final decision until early Friday morning. You are asked to follow Monroe social media page, or the City of Monroe, GA Government page for updates towards the end of the week. Vendors and sponsors for the show will receive an email or phone call as soon as any decision is made and preregistered attendees also will be provided updates as the show gets closer.
