
Nine Central Florida restaurants shut down the week of March 2-8, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Orange
Juicy Pot at 5206 W. Colonial Dr. in Orlando shut down on March 3. Inspectors found 11 violations, three of which were high priorities. Those violations included a dishwasher not having enough chlorine, roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures. A second inspection occurred on March 4. Inspectors found two violations, but none was a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Popular Caribbean Restaurant Cuisine LLC at 4897 W. Colonial Dr. in Orlando shut down on March 5. Inspectors found nine violations, two of which were high priorities for roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures. A second inspection occurred on March 7. There were three violations, but none was a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Jersey Mike’s Subs at 2100 Edgewater Dr. in Orlando shut down on March 5. Inspectors found nine violations, one of which was a high priority for roach activity. A second inspection the same day found the restaurant didn’t comply with the emergency order. On March 7, a third inspection occurred. Inspectors found five violations, with one high-priority violation for roach activity. Authorities issued a time extension for it. On the same day, authorities found two violations during the fourth, and final, inspection. There were two violations but neither were a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Osceola
Loco Burgers LLC, a food truck, with a Vin #4817 located at 2842 E. Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee shut down on March 4. Inspectors found seven violations, four of which were high priorities. Those violations included not having potable running water, raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food and a stop-sale on food not being in wholesome condition. A second inspection occurred on March 6. There were zero violations. The restaurant complied with the emergency order.
Seminole
Cafe Perks at 2101 S. French Ave. in Sanford shut down on March 7. Inspectors found 16 violations, two of which were high priorities for rodent activity and food held at the wrong temperatures. Both were corrected on-site. A second inspection occurred the same day. There were 12 violations but none was a high priority. The restaurant needs a follow-up inspection and has re-opened. It’s not an immediate threat to the public.
Volusia
Stroud’s Daytona Lagoon at 601 Earl St. in Daytona Beach shut down on March 3. Inspectors found 15 violations, five of which were high priorities. Those violations included rodent activity, a stop-sale on food due to temperature abuse and an improperly stored toxic substance. A second inspection on March 4 found six violations and received a time extension for food being held at the wrong temperatures. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Bethune Blvd Grill at 731 Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. in Daytona Beach shut down on March 3. Inspectors found 10 violations, only one of which was a high priority for food held at the wrong temperatures. A second inspection occurred on March 4. Inspectors found three violations, none of which rated as high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Dales Ales Restaurant at 2400 N. Volusia Ave. in Orange City shut down on March 4. Inspectors found 13 violations, two of which were high priorities for an employee working with raw food without washing their hands and raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food. Inspectors conducted another inspection the same day and found seven violations. None was a high priority and the restaurant met inspection standards.
Mr. Dunderbak’s at 1700 W. International Speedway Blvd. in Daytona Beach shut down on March 4. Inspectors found 10 violations, four of which were high priorities. Those violations included rodent activity, flying insects and food held at the wrong temperatures. A second inspection on the same day found five violations. Authorities issued a time extension for raw food stored over ready-to-eat food in the freezer. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Complaints and warnings
Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida with 30.
Volusia had 21, Seminole had 16, Brevard had 13, Lake had 10 and Osceola had eight.
