Brent Berry Food Drive reaches 18th year

TIMBERVILLE, Va. (WHSV) – The Brent Berry Food Drive is in full swing once again, stopping at Walmart in Timberville.

Founder Bucky Berry, Brent’s father, has been collecting food with his son for 18 years. Last year, the father-son duo received an award from Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin for their efforts.

Berry said he hopes to continue tackling food insecurity in the community, especially as grocery prices continue to rise.

“The economy’s pretty serious now, with the stock market and different things. The Salvation Army is running out of food,” Berry said. “They’ve got canned vegetables, we’ve got a lot of diapers here. I want to thank Walmart for stepping up to the plate and helping us collect food.”

The food drive will run until March 26.
