Hundreds gather to celebrate video game star Mario

If you lived or worked at Crosstown Concourse or just wanted to visit one of its many food options Saturday, you might have found yourself a bit frustrated.

That’s because it was the concourse’s third annual Mario Day, a day set aside for fans of the video game character that debuted more than 40 years ago in the original Donkey Kong stand-up arcade game.

Hundreds — perhaps even as many as 1,000 — packed the concourse atrium Saturday. Many of them, both kids and their parents, were dressed as characters from the massive video game and movie franchise.
