Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana hosts 9th annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana held its 9th annual Empty bowls fundraiser at the Monroe Civic Center.

This event serves to provide food to struggling families across the region.

Since its inception in 2017, the Empty Bowls Fundraiser has continued to help the food bank provide for those in need.

The organizer says that he hopes to see this event help reach more people across northeast Louisiana.

“The goal to be for this event is to just feed as many people as we can. We know we’re living in an economy that is a lot of people are struggling,” says James Miles.”

Miles has been the organizer of the fundraiser for three years running, he says hunger in this region is an issue that is personal to him.

“Northeast Louisiana is home to me I was born and raised here and the Food Bank does such impressive work throughout our region of providing food resources to individuals that do not have the means to take care of it themselves,” says Miles.

What brings him the most joy in this event is seeing the community come together and enjoy food and art locally and also knowing that it will make an impact to those in need in the area.

“The impact that this event brings to the food banking in our in our ability to provide those food assistance to those individuals. So it’s something I can’t perceive as as enough that that this event contributes towards,” says Miles.

The food bank says that the Empty Bowls Fundraiser contributes to the majority of its funds each year.

This year’s fundraiser was a success as tickets were sold out days before the event.
