First Look at Ibarra’s Mexican Food in Maize, KS

Ibarra's Mexican Food

A new restaurant has officially opened in the former Mr. Miyagi space at 4041 N. Maize Road in Maize, KS. Ibarra’s Mexican Food is the latest eatery to enter the fray for Maize and the northwest part of Wichita.

Ibarra’s opens at a time when fast casual Mexican options in northwest Wichita took a hit with the recent closure of David’s Express on Maize Road.

Ibarra’s Mexican Food is a fast casual restaurant similar to a Rene’s, Roadrunner, or Alejandro’s except they close at 10pm.

The menu features burritos, tortas, taquitos, tacos and combination plates.

During my visit, I ordered three tacos with lengua, tripas and adobada for dine-in.

Be careful, these tacos were large and in charge. Plus, I don’t know if they could have fit any more protein in those tortillas. They were bigger than your standard street tacos. Oh, and they come out piping hot. Since everything was made fresh, it took maybe 4–6 minutes for it to cool down.

I particularly enjoyed the lengua the most. It was very tasty, nicely seasoned and nearly filled me up. And since that didn’t do the trick. The tripas taco certainly did. I had it prepared crispy, and it came out just as ordered. After finishing two large stuffed tacos, I struggled to knock down the third.

And just to have something for later, I picked up a sausage breakfast burrito. Once again, another large creation. This picture doesn’t do it justice.

I’ll say that with the price of eggs, the burrito was a little short on the eggs but had plenty of sausage to make up for it. Regardless, it was another heavy delicious meal at an affordable price.

This may come off as blasphemy to some, but I’d put Ibarra’s over the likes of Renee’s, Roadruner and Alejandro’s.

As an added bonus, the ladies working at Ibarra’s Mexican Food were super nice. I’ll definitely be going again.
