ZANESVILLE, OH –Ray Seifert and his sons have been the proud owners of the Midway Track for three years now, continuing a legacy of thrilling dirt track racing.
The track has become a staple in the local racing community, where drivers of all skill levels compete. This weekend, the excitement extends beyond the track with the Midway Speedway Stock Car Show, happening at Colony Square Mall from Friday, March 7th through Sunday, March 9th, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
“Stockcars, there’s all types of different classes,” Seifert said. “Everything from beginners to super late models. Cars can cost anywhere from the minimum of about $1,000 to $120,000, and it just depends on what level of funds a person has to enter. Dirt track racing is a little different than asphalt racing. The cars are sideways through the corners – it’s a big adrenaline rush.”
At the Stock Car Show, there will be a mall-wide display of local race cars, offering fans a chance to see the machines up close before they hit the track.
“This weekend, we want to get some people out here to the mall so they can get introduced to the racers. Some of these racers would like to find sponsorships to help them with their weekly racing fees.” I’m hoping that we have a big turnout here and that some of the racers get to talk to the people, because they don’t get to talk to the racers very often on race night – the racers are pretty busy.”
Don’t forget to cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award at the show. To participate, please bring non-perishable food donations. Head over to Colony Square Mall this weekend for more information on sponsoring a racer and getting your name on the side of the car.
