
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Farmers and food bank leaders revealed the Bushels for Hunger donation amount Friday morning.
For the 15th straight year, local farmers gathered at the River Bend Food Bank. The donation amounted to $21,523.07.
Every year farmers in Henry, Mercer and Rock Island counties donate some of their harvest as they bring it into area grain elevators.
In addition to this latest contribution, the total amount of meals donated equals over 1.7 million.
“With heartfelt appreciate, we extend our deepest thanks to the Henry, Mercer and Rock Island County Farm Bureaus and participating grain elevators for 15 years of unwavering support and generosity through the Bushels for Hunger program,” said Chris Ford, President and CEO of River Bend Food Bank.
