Animal Welfare League of Alexandria offering Spring Break Camp for animal-loving kids

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is running a Spring Break Camp for kids in grades two through five from March 24 to 28.

The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, giving children the chance to hang out with adoptable shelter animals, learn from staff, and participate in animal-themed activities.

According to the AWLA, the camp’s activities include interacting with dogs, cats, and small animals. Time is set aside every day for dog or cat playtime, and kids get to spend time with the animals in a controlled setting. Staff from different departments, including Veterinary, Foster, Animal Services, and Behavior, drop by as guest speakers to share what it’s like working in an animal shelter.

Parents can sign up their kids for the whole week at $400 or choose individual days at $100 per day.
