Heads up, New Roads residents and visitors: prepare to adjust your travel plans for this weekend. According to an announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, there’s a scheduled road closure in the heart of town that’s going to shift your usual routes. LA 1-Business (Main Street) is set to be completely closed off on Saturday, March 8, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
For those who need to get around the event perimeter, a detour route has been proposed. It will lead you to loop from LA 1 (Hospital Road) to LA 1(S) then onto LA 10 to LA 981, finally taking LA 415 back to LA 1 Business—or vice versa, depending on your direction of travel, as reported by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
