The Tennis Sunshine Double Requires Plenty Of Fan Food

Between the nearly 500,000 fans flocking to Indian Wells for the BNP Paribas Open and the almost 400,000 fans visiting Hard Rock Stadium for the Miami Open, there’s plenty of mouths to feed across the tennis sunshine double. Each venue has a strategy, executed in both places by Sodexo Live!

“We love March, the month of tennis for us, as we curate culinary meccas in both Indian Wells and Miami Gardens for fans to enjoy,” says Carmen Callo, Sodexo Live! national executive chef.

Indian Wells

The first to kick off is the now-underway event in Indian Wells, known for its multiple restaurants overlooking main stadium courts. After a 2024 debut, Porta Via, a Southern California bistro and bar, returns to Stadium 1, the lone restaurant with views onto the main venue in “tennis paradise.” Stadium 2 features two court-viewing restaurants, with Nobu Indian Wells the long-running star and the other restaurant brand new for 2025, Mole Ingenious Mexican Kitchen, serving Mexican cuisine made from scratch daily. Stadium 2 also features a third restaurant—this one with a view of the grounds and not the court—and local Coachella Valley favorite Ristorante Mamma Gina fills that spot with traditional Florentine cuisine.

Indian Wells has two other new additions to the fray. La Dolce Piccola, a family-owned gelateria from Palm Desert, is serving gelato and baked goods. La Quinta-based China Jo’s will make a tournament debut at Stadium 2.

With a focus on a mix of local Southern California purveyors and concessions, key returning partners includes Coachella Valley favorite John’s, returning for a 25th year to serve Mediterranean and American fare. Local favorite J’s Deli returns for a second year and now has two locations, one in the Food Village and one at Stadium 1. Chef Tanya’s Kitchen and Dragon Lili Café + Boba Bar, both from the Coachella Valley, also return.

San Diego-based Puesto, an award-winning Mexican concessionaire, will expand to three locations on site. Popular additions in 2024, MOTO Pizza, Sumo Dog from chef Jeffrey Lunak and Le Burger by Camphor, a Michelin-star Los Angeles restaurant, all make repeat appearances in 2025. Coachella Valley Coffee, a popular outlet on the grounds, especially early in the day, expands its on-site presence with a new Stadium 1 location.

Miami Gardens

For the growing Miami Open, expect more than a handful of new options around the Hard Rock Stadium grounds in Miami Gardens. Fabel debuts its signature menu of modern, globally inspired dishes, Miami Slice offers authentic New York-style pizza on the West Lawn, Fresh Del Monte Courtside Smoothies brings smoothies, fruit and salad bowls and Siggi’s Parfaits & Snacks features the Siggi’s smash parfait, a grab-and-go yogurt parfait topped with fruit and served in a souvenir cup.

Sodexo Live! is also partnering with chef Karla Hoyos on Tacotomia and with Prime Foods Distributing on a special Wagyu bavette steak sandwich. Cracked by Chef Adrianne will enter the stadium this year.

For rum fans, La Casa Brugal by Brugal Rum will offer up a pop-up shop as the new official rum partner of the tournament, serving signature cocktails with a Caribbean twist.

Key returners to Miami Open include: Kiki on the River serving Greek cuisine; Omakai elevating this year’s space with a new hand-rolled sushi bar; Bodega Taqueria y Tequila offering a fusion of tacos and tequila; American Social, overlooking the South Plaza, returning with its popular Florida hangout serving burgers and wings; Cheeseburger Baby bringing a local fan favorite; Ella’s Oyster Bar serving up New England cuisine; and Sushi Maki, Suviche and Novecento all making their mark.

Miami Gardens is full of bar experiences, with Santa Margherita Rose Giardino returning with its rose garden bar, the N3 Gin Courtside Club on the second level of Sunset Terrace serving crafted cocktails, Celsius Lounge at Sunset Terrace offering an energy-filled mocktail experience and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Garden giving fans a different style of experience.

The Miami Open expects about 135,000 pounds of food served over the span of the tourney, including 4,500 pounds of pasta, 2,000 pounds of salmon and 500 pounds of yogurt. The tournament also expects to serve 2,000 espressos, 1,300 cappuccinos and 1,000 smoothies.

“From fine-tuning operations in order to ensure minimal wait times, to doubling down on the most popular menu items and bringing in a winning lineup of local partners,” Callo says, “guests are sure to enjoy all that’s in store at these tournaments the next few weeks.”
