Second Harvest Food Bank receives $50K donation from Food City for new delivery van

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee received a $50,000 donation from Food City leaders.

This sizable donation funded the purchase of a food delivery van that will help expand meal services to children in our region.

Food bank leaders say this van will help provide more than 30,000 meals to children in the summer months which will include a combination of hot and cold ready-to-eat dishes.

Food city leaders say they’re grateful to be able to help with such an important cause.

It’s surprising to me that food hunger is still such an issue in today’s society, but we’re very thankful again for the support that we have of the folks around us that we can continue to make these contributions, said Brandon Mowell, District Manager for Food City.
