Search underway for Mass. woman and her five kids

Police in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, are trying to locate a woman and her five children. Fitchburg police said they are trying to find Ruth Encarnacion and her children — Alexander Rivera, 10, Alejandro Rivera, 9, Alonzo Rivera, 5, Abigail Rivera, 4, and Adonis Rivera, 9 months. The woman and the children are believed to be traveling in a black 2018 Infinity QX60 with Massachusetts registration 5GCX18. It’s believed they are with Isael Rivera, police said. Police said they initiated an investigation after receiving a missing person report for Encarnacion on March 3. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) then reporter her hive children missing on March 5.Following the DCF report, police said Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Worcester County DA’s Office joined the investigation.Police said they obtained warrants for five counts of custodial kidnapping of a minor by a relative against Encarnacion and Rivera.Additionally, police said the possibility of issuing an Amber Alert was discussed but ultimately they decided against it as they said Amber Alerts are not intended for missing child incidents involving parental kidnapping or child custody situations that lack specific information about the children in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.Anyone with information about the family’s whereabouts is asked to contact Fitchburg police at 978-345-4355.
