Food For Lane County celebrates 40 years of fighting hunger

Food For Lane County (FFLC) marked its 40th anniversary with a festive evening of food, drink, and networking, celebrating decades of community impact. The nonprofit has been a cornerstone in providing food assistance throughout Lane County.

Guests at the event were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the organization’s efforts to combat hunger, including its numerous partnerships with local farms and grocery stores.

“I’m really excited to think about those partnerships,” said Carolyn Stein, executive director of Food For Lane County. “We do work a lot with food processors and farmers already, but I see tons of opportunity for us to really build out a resilient food system in that way.”

Stein noted that about a third of Lane County residents rely on FFLC for food assistance. The organization moves more than seven million pounds of food each year to ensure families can enjoy a healthy diet.
