ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta News First is spreading the magic of reading by delivering books to kids at G.W. Northcutt Elementary School in College Park.
Atlanta News First anchors and meteorologists are handing out 3,070 books Thursday as part of an effort to encourage young learners to read. The Books to Kids initiative started in 2018. Since then, more than 94,000 books have been handed out to children in the metro Atlanta community.
The facts are clear: If kids aren’t proficient at reading by third grade, odds are they never catch up.
During each visit, each student receives a backpack with 5 books.
