OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) – Senator Kristen Thompson’s R-Edmond, Food Safety Bill moves to the Senate after passing committee.
Senate Bill 4’s goal is to protect public health by banning certain harmful food additives according to a press release. Some of the concerns come from dyes blue, green, and yellow.
“Research has shown that some of these additives—banned in other countries—are associated with increased risks of cancer, behavioral issues in children, and endocrine disruption,” Thompson said.
The bill aligns with a movement to enhance food safety standards.
