
Darryn Agsalda’s nightmare became a reality last Monday when his family business in Lathrop was struck in a crash. “We did everything we can to build this business up, create it the way we want it to, for all that to be taken out that night,” said Agsalda. His food truck, Agsalda Food Company, was one of the three trailers hit when a 23-year-old driver lost control and veered off Interstate 5 into the Lathrop Food Plaza. Read about the crash here. Agsalda started his business in 2020 along with his brother. Now, years of hard work are unexpectedly lost. “So much that’s been lost,” said Agsalda. Unable to open his business, his family is left without their primary source of income. “This business takes care of everything,” said Agsalda. “It takes care of the bills, takes care of the mortgage and it’s just something that me and my brother and my wife had built from the bottom.”A week after the crash, he is still waiting to hear back from his insurance company.”It adds to us being prolonged of not working,” said Agsalda. It is still unclear why the driver lost control. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
