
GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) – A recall was issued over the weekend for some ground beef products sold at a Food Lion store in Gaston County.
A recall was issued on Saturday, March 1 for ground beef prepared in-store at the Food Lion located on New Hope Road in Gastonia. Three of the ground beef products prepared in-store may contain traces of foreign material, the company said in an announcement.
The following products are affected by the recall, which is only in effect for the Food Lion at 2211 North New Hope Road in Gastonia:
- 73% Lean Fresh Ground Beef (all sizes)
- 80% Lean Fresh Ground Chuck (all sizes)
- 93% Lean Fresh Ground Beef (all sizes)
The recalled products were produced after 1 p.m. on March 1, 2025. The recalled products have a Sell By date of March 3, 2025.

It was not said what exactly the “foreign material” was that may have contaminated the meat.

Customers are urged to not eat the recalled ground beef.
Instead, the recalled meat can be returned to the impacted Food Lion store for a refund equal to double the purchase price,” officials said Saturday.
No other Food Lion stores, including the several others in Gastonia, were impacted by the recall.
