Each year, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics highlights an important theme, and this year’s theme is “Food Connects Us.” But what does that really mean? Food connects us in countless ways – through culture, friendships and family. It brings people together, sparking joy around the table and providing opportunities to learn about one another through the shared experience of eating. When we sit around a table and enjoy a meal together, we not only bond over the meal, and also learn about its origins, the process behind its preparation and where the ingredients come from.
