HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – After hearing residents in the valley complain about rising debt, inflation, and a lack of financial education, two experts are collaborating to bring free financial courses to those who desire to learn financial education.
Realtor Derek Chaudhuri and credit specialist Matt Dillingham are teaming up to offer free financial literacy workshops to help residents improve their credit, manage debt, and build wealth.
“Americans are facing record-high credit card debt, rising rents, and an overall tough economy,” said Chaudhuri. “We want to give people the tools they need to take control of their finances and work toward homeownership.”
Dillingham, CEO of A1 Solutions Group, said after personally overcoming financial struggles the challenges are present in the valley and highlight the need for financial education.
“Credit isn’t something we’re taught in school,” he said. “I filed for bankruptcy at 27 because I didn’t know how to manage my finances. Now, I’m using my experience to help others avoid those mistakes.”
“Knowledge is power,” said Chaudhuri. “With the right financial education, people can break cycles of debt and build a more secure future.”
The workshops are held on the first Saturday of each month at the Kline May Realty office in Harrisonburg. The courses will cover topics such as credit repair, budgeting, and homeownership. Attendees can sign up through Eventbrite or text 540-435-7778 to RSVP.
