Kansas City, Kansas lifts ban on food trucks, allowing them to reopen for business

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Food trucks can return to a popular area in Kansas City, Kan., after a temporary ban.

City leaders said food trucks and mobile vendors can return to 18th and Central, as long as the owners comply with new regulations.

The city banned the trucks late last year after multiple health and safety violations. According to the city some of the violations included:

  • improper grease disposal
  • unauthorized road closures
  • fire hazards

The city held training sessions to make sure food truck owners and vendors are aware of ordinances and proper ways to dispose food waste.

The city’s environmental services division also extensively cleaned stormwater and wastewater pipes and infrastructure. The maintenance means the sewer and drainage system will operate correctly.
