Wichita Falls to host free kids’ fishing rodeo

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KSWO) – The Wichita Falls Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will host a free Kids’ Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, March 8.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Plum Lake. Children will have the opportunity to win prizes, but they will be split into three age groups: 2-6, 7-11, and 12-16.

Awards will be given out for the top three largest and smallest trout, and the top 2 for the largest other species. Judges will determine the winners based on length.

With there being a limited number of fishing poles, it will be on a first-come, first-served basis to determine who gets them.

Anyone participating is encouraged to bring their own fishing poles and bait.
