Memphis woman shot and killed, leaving 3 kids motherless

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Three young children are growing up without their mother after police said she was gunned down last week in Southwest Memphis.

The victim’s aunt told FOX13 her name was Terrica Tabor. She was only 29-years-old.

“She was a good mom. No one deserves to not be raised to lose their parents in such a tragedy,” said Tabor’s aunt, who did not want to appear on camera for fear of retaliation. She said she couldn’t even imagine the final moments of her niece’s life.

“Mentally wise, it’s been hard for the 10-year-old because she misses her mom and she know she was killed,” Tabor’s aunt said of her niece’s three children.

Memphis Police said officers responded to a shooting at the 2900 block of South Third Street around 9:00 p.m. When officers arrived they found Tabor in critical condition and transported her to Regional One, but the 29-year-old did not survive her injuries.

“It was the sharpest pain in my heart because I thought what about the children. What about her kids?” said Tabor’s aunt.

Police said the suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

A business nearby caught a woman on camera, who may have been responsible for the shooting. In the photo, the alleged suspect was wearing all black clothing with a hoodie on her head.

FOX13 asked the victim’s aunt if she knew who could have been behind this. She believes it was a close friend of Tabor’s.

She said Tabor’s three children must now navigate life without the love and guidance of their beloved mother.

“I just pray we get justice, and they find her. So nobody else will have to go through losing a family member or a child have to live without their parents,” Tabor’s aunt said.

Memphis Police said no arrests were made. If you’ve seen the suspect, reach out to Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
