KENTUCKY. (WFIE) -Lawmakers are working to pass two bills that could benefit Kentucky.
The first bill could make it easier for High School athletes to report abuse.
The bill will change the student-athlete consent form each student receives to include information about reporting abuse.
It will also clarify the responsibility of coaches if they have reason to believe an athlete is being abused.
The sports abuse bill will now move to the house after receiving approval in the senate yesterday.
Kentucky lawmakers are also trying to recruit more filmmakers to the state.
A new bill would create a dedicated film office within the state’s cabinet for economic development.
Lawmakers who support the film office bill say it will bring economic and tourism growth to the state.
Lawmakers say the industry generated Kentucky $200 million dollars in revenue just in 2022.
