Ranked battles and a new set are coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Today’s Pokémon Day stream has revealed the next TCG Pocket which is set to launch tomorrow. The set, called Triumphant Light, is centered around Arceus, following on from the Dialga and Palkia themed Space-Time Smackdown sets recently launched.

Arceus EX is more than just the centerpiece card of the set though, as it has special mechanics that allow the entire set to be built around this one card, where other cards in the set can use their abilities to buff it in the field, as well as ignoring a whole host of special conditions. This set should make for a lot of fun challenges as TCG Pocket’s popularity continues to grow after its successful launch last year.

This set will launch on February 28, 2025, but that wasn’t the only confirmation as ranked battles are also coming to the game some time in March, which we’ll get more details on very soon. Combine this with the physical TCG card game getting Mega Evolutions very soon and it makes for an exciting time for TCG fans.

On top of that, there were a bunch of other cool revels in the Pokémon Day stream, like a new Pokémon Legends Z-A trailer and the reveal of the Pokémon Champions battle sim game.
