PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – Pueblo is working to solve their budget issues by bringing in a new Director of Finance, Danny Nunn.
11 News spoke with Nunn Wednesday and he said, “I believe we find ourselves in a budget crisis.”
Nunn continues saying, “I feel that we are pointed in the wrong direction, so it’s time for us to take a hard look at expenses of the city, finding new ways to generate revenues so that we can get back on the right track and have a balanced or positive budget.”
Nunn has been with the City of Pueblo for about seven years now and during his time there, he’s worked across all the different financial departments including sales tax auditor, accountant and payroll supervisor.
Nunn also started serving as interim director of finance back in August before officially being appointed this past Monday.
Nunn wants to ensure the Pueblo community this vast experience he has with the city’s money will benefit the people and get the city back on track for a balanced or positive budget.
Nunn also wants people in Pueblo to know what his priorities are now that he’s officially director of finance.
“The citizens are getting in me, someone who is committed to financial transparency, responsibility, openness and the willingness to do what’s right for the city as a whole,” Nunn said.
Also, Nunn tells 11 News, “I bring to the table that experience of knowing every position, how the department should function and what the right way of doing things are.”
Giving credit to a special someone, Nunn tells 11 News, “(I’d like to) give a shout out to my wife because she is fantastic.
“I would not be able to commit the time that I do to the city without her support. She is fantastic. She’s my rock and I owe everything to her.”
