KCK food truck operators learn how to avoid another shutdown

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – The food truck moratorium in Kansas City, Kansas, will soon expire.

On Wednesday, February 26, KCK police, fire, and health departments joined state officials in educating food truck operators about preventing code violations.

In December, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County placed a 60-day moratorium on food truck operators in KCK between Grandview and Wilson Boulevards and from 17th to 19th Streets.

Grease dumped from trucks selling in those areas clogged the underground sewer pipes – a big headache and expense for the city.

”Where to dump grease properly and the locations of gray water, and of course, trash, music, burn barrels- we want to bring everybody together and talk about these topics and how to move forward in the right direction,” said Jeff Miles, UG’s Environmental Services Director.

The Unified Government said they have cleaned out all of that grease from past abuse and will lift the moratorium this week.
