CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Hamilton County Commissioners agreed to dedicate a road to the woman who dedicated her life to helping abused and neglected children, Pat McCollum.
During her State of the County Address, Hamilton County Commission President Denise Driehaus unveiled Hamilton County’s new Central Campus building – the former Mercy Health headquarters in Bond Hill.
This building will be the new home for Hamilton County Jobs and Family Services, Developmental Disabilities Services, Environmental Services, Public Health and the Veteran Service Commission.
“I am also pleased to say my colleagues and I have agreed to rename the street leading to our new building after someone we lost too early, Pat McCollum,” Driehaus said.
McCollum was 78 when she and her two children – D.J. McCollum, 32, and Kaydence McCollum – were killed in October 2024.
She was described as a “pillar in the community,” a “champion” for kids, and someone who loved helping others. But she was also a foster mom who took in more than 70 children as her own, including D.J. and Kaydence.
“She was a champion for our most vulnerable kids. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. We hope to honor her memory with this gesture,” Driehaus continued.
The county bought the former Mercy Health building in September 2024.
