Good Gravy: Food has a way of bringing us together

I recently restarted watching the series “No Reservations.” For anyone not familiar with this show, it follows chef Anthony Bourdain as he travels the world offering commentary about a region’s people and the food they cook. He’s funny, insightful and given to occasional profanity — all while eating and talking about the food.

He speaks about food in an almost poetic fashion, tying area delicacies to the history, customs and lifestyles of its people. He creates a rich commentary that draws the viewer into his journey. I know when I watch his show, I have visions of visiting some of these places and trying the food and drink and interacting with the culture that surrounds them.
