Arraignment for Bedford Heights mom accused of leaving kids in car while she shopped

BEDFORD, Ohio (WOIO) – A Bedford Heights mother charged with child endangering after she allegedly left her kids alone in the car while she shopped, is scheduled to be arraigned in Bedford Municipal Court Wednesday.

On Feb. 4, Mycal Davis, 26, was inside the Solon Giant Eagle on Aurora Road.

Solon police said a shopper spotted the children in the car and told a store employee, who called police.

When officers arrived, they found Davis’s one-year-old and six-year-old in the running car with the doors unlocked.

Officers paged Davis and said she exited the store about six minutes later.

Davis told officers the children were sleeping when she got to the store and she just went inside to get their dinner.

Thankfully neither child was injured.

According to Kids and Car Safety, in 2024 there were 118 children in the United States left unattended in cars that were then stolen.

In Ohio, there were nine children left in cars that were stolen in 2024.
