MCFARLAND, Wis. (WMTV) – The Winter Olympics in Italy are a little less than a year out.
Wisconsin is typically well-represented in winter sports, including speed skating and curling.
The Madison Curling Club in McFarland is a close, tight-knit group of athletes and usually sees a lot of buzz around Winter Olympics time. Employees there say the Games are great for the sport.
Madison Curling Club has competitive leagues happening most nights of the week, and encourages people to come out to try the sport.
“When people think about curling they think it’s so easy, so I love getting people on the ice and they realize ‘oh I’m using muscles I didn’t even know I had,’” explained curler Celeste Marlow. “I love that it’s such a very athletic sport and it’s also a very mentally challenging sport.”
