Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority now taking nominations for ‘Kids First Champion Award’

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – The Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority (LETA) wants to recognize the men and women who go above and beyond for kids across the community.

The organization is now taking nominations for its first-ever “Kids First Champion Award.”

The award honors individuals and organizations who make an effort to clean up neighborhoods and create safe and fun spaces for the children of Lawton.

The winners will be recognized during LETA’s annual banquet in April but city officials like Communications and Marketing Manager for the City of Lawton, Caitlin Gatlin say the real reward is the good done in the community.

“In 2025 the city of Lawton is really pushing the ‘Kids First Initiative’ that Mayor Booker delivered in his New Year’s address,” Gatlin said. “This ‘Kids First Champion’ award I think just reinforces those efforts to make that clean and safe community for kids. We have incredible individuals within our community who are doing things like this just out of the goodness of their hearts every weekend or every day so it’s a no-brainer to be able to bring this to life and recognize some of those individuals who just love Lawton and love making it cleaner and safer for our kids.”

If you’d like to nominate a “Kids First Champion,” you can do so through the City of Lawton’s website.

The deadline for nominations is March 9.
