Alexandria rec center hosting free kids book swap event this Friday

Kids and their parents can bring in gently used books to an Alexandria recreation center this Friday and swap them for fresh books from other locals.

The event, hosted by Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Leonard “Chick” Armstrong Recreation Center (40 Dale Street). The event is co-sponsored by the Duncan Library.

“Bring your gently used books and trade them for new reads at this fun-filled Book Swap & Family Fest!” the event listing said. “Enjoy crafts, storytelling, and exciting activities for all ages. Don’t miss this chance to refresh your bookshelf and spark your imagination!”

The event is open to all ages. The website said participants can expect to receive one book for every book turned in.

“he program will include book swap area, crafts, a storyteller and other exciting activities for families,” the website said.
